For this application I was required to create the branding for three different styles of restaurants and design a smart phone app interface. It would allow the user to select a restaurant, their specials, make a reservation, and order take-out. I chose Ceviche, a fine-dining restaurant, Five Vines, a casual dining restaurant, and the Hearth & Stone Bistro, a fast-casual restaurant.
I chose the name "Cooked with Love" for my family of eateries, because often when we cooked for others we say that it was made with love. I wanted people to feel welcomed when going to these restaurants and using their services. I chose a silver dish with a heart to portray this.
I chose a black font-based logo for Ceviche, because it was simplistic and elegant. Handwritting and script fonts are usually associated with the finer things in life, so I believed it was fitting for this style of dining.
The logo for Five Vines has a few hidden meanings. The large "V" represents the Roman Numeral for "5", and is also the first letter for the word "Vines". I used a burgandy colour to symbolize red wine, which comes from grapes that grow on vines. These vines can also be seen on the right hand side of the large "V" through the leaves creeping up the side.
I wanted Hearth & Stone's to have a warm, cozy feel to it, so I used light, warm colours and bolder fonts. I thought red and orange were too bold so I chose a golden yellow to be the colour for "hearth" to represent the glow of the fire. I chose a light grey for "stone", because many stone ovens are that shade.
